The Ministry of Education in Bangladesh has announced a temporary closure of all coaching centers across the country. The decision will take effect from Monday and will remain in force until the official Eid-ul-Fitr holiday ends. This instruction applies to all types of coaching centers, including both Bangla and English medium institutions.
According to the official notice, the directive was issued on Sunday by the Secondary and Higher Education Division of the Ministry of Education. The order clearly states that all coaching activities must stop during this period. Authorities expect all institutions to follow the rule strictly.
Coaching Centers Must Stop Activities During Holiday
The government introduced this step to manage the overall situation during the holy month of Ramadan. Officials want to reduce public pressure and movement in different cities, especially in busy areas like Dhaka. By closing coaching centers, the government hopes to make daily life easier for students, guardians, and city residents.
The instruction includes every type of coaching center operating in Bangladesh. Whether it is a small private tutoring center or a large coaching institute, all must remain closed during the government-declared holiday period.
English Medium Schools Also Included
The directive also applies to English medium schools operating under foreign curricula. These institutions must suspend regular class activities from Monday until the Eid holiday ends. However, the government has allowed one exception.
If an English medium school has mandatory examinations scheduled during this time, those exams may continue according to the previously announced timetable. Schools can only conduct the required examinations but cannot continue normal classes.
Decision Taken in a High-Level Meeting
Officials confirmed that the decision came after a meeting chaired by the Education Minister. Representatives from schools that operate foreign curricula also attended the meeting. Participants discussed the situation during Ramadan and the difficulties people face in different cities.
After reviewing the situation and considering the global context, the participants unanimously agreed on the decision to close coaching centers and suspend certain academic activities for a short period.
Instruction Sent to Authorities Nationwide
The Ministry of Education has already sent this instruction to all education boards across the country. The notice was also delivered to the Director General of the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE) and all district administrators.
These authorities will monitor the implementation of the directive. They may take necessary steps if any institution fails to follow the order.
What Students and Guardians Should Know
Students who regularly attend coaching classes should stay updated with official announcements from their institutions. Since coaching activities will remain closed until the Eid holiday period ends, students may need to adjust their study schedules at home.
Guardians should also ensure that their children follow the instructions and avoid attending unofficial coaching sessions during this time. The temporary closure aims to make Ramadan easier for everyone and reduce unnecessary travel.
Once the Eid-ul-Fitr holiday ends, coaching centers and educational institutions are expected to resume their normal academic activities.
